How to actually open one.

No app to build, no account to create with us — accounts are opened directly through the U.S. Treasury. Here's exactly how.

Confirm eligibility

Any U.S. child under 18 with a valid Social Security number qualifies — citizenship isn't required for the account itself. Priority to open one follows: legal guardian, parent, adult sibling, then grandparent.

File the election

A guardian files IRS Form 4547 (Trump Account Election) — directly through the IRS, as part of a tax return, or through the official TrumpAccounts.gov app. There's no cost, and only one funded account per child.

Newborn? Skip the form

For babies born from July 3, 2026 onward, there's a shortcut: enroll right at the hospital through the existing birth-registration process, no separate form needed.

Set up contributions

Once it's open, family, friends, and eligible employers can contribute up to $5,000/year combined. Run the numbers on our calculator first if you want to see how different amounts add up.

Ready to open an account?

Accounts are opened through the official Trump Accounts app and website, or by filing IRS Form 4547.
